Rompetrol and “Daruieşte Aripi” Association support the opening of a regional center for autoimmune diseases in Constanta County Emergency Clinical Hospital “Sf. Apostol Andrei”

“Daruieşte Aripi” Association, with the support of Rompetrol, is establishing the Regional Center for Autoimmune - Autoinflammatory and Rare Diseases within the Constanta County Emergency Clinical Hospital “Sf. Apostol Andrei”.

The center will provide services for over 300 patients, both adults and children, from the south-eastern part of Romania every month. For the first time, these patients will benefit from a dedicated structure to have access to early diagnosis and modern therapies.

"Rompetrol has been investing in impactful projects for over 20 years, to develop the medical infrastructure and facilitate access to health and well-being services for all members of our communities. We collaborate with specialized NGOs, with state medical institutions, to come up with solutions for the needs of the population in the Dobrogea region." - Florian Pop, General Manager of Rompetrol Rafinare.

“The new center is a project that we developed based on the model of similar centers in Europe and which we turned into reality through the immediate involvement of the “Daruieste Aripi” Association. It is a great joy to be sure that our patients will benefit not only from a high-quality therapeutic process, but also from an increased quality of life. Unfortunately, too little is said about the quality of life of a patient in Romania." - Dr. Ana-Maria Ramazan, Primary Rheumatology Physician and Pediatric Specialist.

The regional center located in Constanta is also part of the European EUSTAR program and is the fourth at national level, joining the two centers in Bucharest and the one in Cluj-Napoca.

In the future, the center will expand the medical team to become a Center of Excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases, hemophilia and autoinflammatory diseases, connected with partners at European level. Also, a Regional Registry of Autoimmune and Rare Diseases will be developed, which will keep track of patients and contribute to the development of new services dedicated to them.

"We created this structure having in mind the needs of patients with rare diseases, whose unique challenges require a specialized and personalized approach. Through our projects, we get involved where we find dedicated doctors, who want to raise the standards of patient care. This is also the case of Dr. Ana-Maria Ramazan, who came up with this model of good practice from abroad.” - Alina Patrahau, President of the “Daruieste Aripi” Association.

In Constanta County, Rompetrol supported the implementation of health projects through collaborations with hospitals, local public authorities, and NGOs, targeting significant investments to improve infrastructure and medical services. In Navodari Medical Center, the company invested USD 400,000 in radiology and gynecology equipment, thus contributing to the improvement of medical services for the community of approximately 50,000 people. Also, for the Constanta County Hospital, Rompetrol allocated USD 120,000 for the modernization of the facilities in the obstetrics division, ensuring better medical care for patients, in a project carried out in partnership with the “Daruieste Aripi” Association. Rompetrol also supplied high-performance ophthalmology equipment for the Corbu Medical Unit, contributing to the improvement of medical services in this commune. Also, Rompetrol has developed partnerships with the SMURD Foundation, thus supporting various local projects.

Additionally, the company has other ongoing initiatives, such as providing support for the equipment of the oncology department at the Palazu Mare Pneumophysiology Hospital, the inauguration of a mammogram for the Navodari Medical Unit and the provision of emergency equipment for the Emergency Unit of the Constanta County Hospital.

Annually, Rompetrol invests over USD 1 million in health projects.
