Rompetrol – Investments in health, education, and environment in Constanta County

In 2025, Rompetrol continues to invest in key projects for Constanta County, reinforcing its commitment to health and education, the fundamental pillars of its corporate social responsibility strategy.

Investing in health: modern equipment for hospitals and improved access to treatment

In 2025, Rompetrol contributed to the modernization of medical infrastructure in Constanta and Prahova counties by:

  • Equipping 11 public spaces and several fuel distribution station with semiautomatic defibrillators, in a joint effort with SMURD Foundation. This was one of the largest initiatives designed to increase the national response capacity for heart attack emergencies and improve public safety and also implied CPR training for Rompetrol fuel station staff. The investment exceeded RON 1 million.
  • Donation of state-of-the-art 3D digital tomosynthesis mammograph and a specialized breast ultrasound machine equipped with linear probes. These devices are now in use at the Năvodari Multifunctional Health Center. The total investment amounts to RON 1,850,000.
  • Equipping the Emergency Reception Unit (ERU) and the Plastic and Burn Surgery Department of the "St. Apostle Andrew" Constanţa County Emergency Clinical Hospital with essential medical equipment, as part of a project aimed at strengthening the local healthcare system. The total value of the investment amounts to RON 720,000.
  • Donating heating fuel for the external units of the Constanţa County Emergency Clinical Hospital “St. Apostle Andrew”– the Osteoarticular and Pulmonary TB Sections in Agigea, as well as the Physical Medicine and Balneology Rehabilitation Section in Eforie Sud.

Education and Community Development

In the field of education, Rompetrol supported in 2025 several initiatives related to the development of local communities:

  • The Chess in Schools project promotes critical thinking, improves concentration, and develops decision-making strategies and analytical skills needed in any professional field. In 2025, more than 125,000 children have been introduced to chess through in-person and online classes, marking a 440% increase in attendance over 2022. The project is now present in 37 counties, with 270 outdoor competitions and events held across the country in 2025, thanks to the implication of 2,500 teachers and trainers. So far, the program has distributed 80,000 chess manuals and 17,000 complete chess sets to schools nationwide.

  • Collaboration with Teach for Romania, through which the company supports early education in rural communities, providing children with equal learning opportunities.
  • Donation of musical instruments to the “Dinu Lipatti“ Arts High School in Piteşti, through the partnership with the Romanian Luthiers Association (AALR). The donation includes 31 handcrafted musical instruments made by Romanian artisans — violins, violas, cellos, double basses, pan flutes, and guitars — essential for the development and support of students in their artistic training.
  • Acquisition of an acoustic piano for the “Carmen Sylva” Art High School in Ploieşti, directly supporting the over 200 students at the high school who study piano.
  • Rompetrol Rafinare Internship Program, which for 25 years has been providing students and graduates with internship opportunities in the energy sector.
  • The establishment of the first inclusive playground in Ploiești, in the West City Park – Greenhouse Area, in partnership with Ploiești City Hall and Children’s Forest Association. The 1,250 sqm spaces offers children in the community a modern, safe and accessible environment for all, regardless of gender or skills, adapted to all types of disabilities – physical, sensory, cognitive or neurodivergent.

Environment: Initiatives for a Sustainable Future

In 2025, Rompetrol continued to support the local community in Năvodari through the creation of a dendrological park near the Năvodari Business Center. As part of this initiative, volunteers from Rompetrol and Plant Good Deeds in Romania planted over 700 ornamental trees and shrubs from 35 different species on an area of 2,300 sqm. The new park also features a grassy lawn, irrigation systems and the infrastructure needed for long-term maintenance.

With these initiatives, Rompetrol confirms its commitment to contributing to the development of the community in Constanta County, investing in medical infrastructure, and supporting access to education for future generations.
