Rompetrol Downstream donates heating fuel to the Constanţa County Hospital
The initiative aims to ensure optimal heating and hot water conditions for patients and medical staff during the cold season, thus contributing to the proper functioning of medical activities in these facilities.
The donated heating fuel, CALOR, is produced at the Vega Refinery in Ploieşti, the oldest operational refinery in Romania, with an uninterrupted history of 120 years. Specialized in niche energy products, Vega produces approximately 15,000 tons of CALOR annually, supplied to public institutions – municipalities, hospitals, schools, recovery centers, and places of worship – across the country. The Vega refinery operates as part of an integrated production chain with the Petromidia Năvodari refinery, contributing to the development of the Romanian oil industry through continuous investments in energy efficiency, operational safety, and modern technologies.
Rompetrol Downstream manages the sale and distribution of fuels across Romania through a network of more than 1,200 retail and internal distribution points – including company-owned stations, partner stations, and industrial bases.
Through this initiative, Rompetrol continues its commitment to local communities as part of its sustainability strategy and ongoing involvement in the areas of health, education, and community development. In the healthcare sector, the company has consistently invested in improving local medical infrastructure: modernizing the Obstetrics Department of the Constanţa County Hospital, equipping the Năvodari Multifunctional Health Center with a mammography unit and other modern radiology and gynecology equipment, and providing ophthalmology devices for the Corbu Medical Unit. Rompetrol has also contributed to equipping the Oncology Department of the Palazu Mare Pneumophthisiology Hospital.
In the field of education, the company runs internship programs that have engaged thousands of students over the past 20 years, supports chess classes and competitions for children and young people, and partners with non-governmental organizations to enhance educational access in underprivileged areas of Constanţa County.
Through all these initiatives, Rompetrol reaffirms its active role in the sustainable development of the Dobrogea region.
