Press Release - Vega Ploiesti

Vega refinery information regarding the air quality monitored through its fixed stations located in Ploieşti and Ţânţăreni.

Vega Ploiesti Refinery recorded, this morning, a rapid increase in the hydrogen sulfide indicator in its area of activity, through its fixed air quality monitoring stations located in Ploiesti and Tantareni. This information was also automatically transmitted to the relevant authorities (APM Prahova and GNM - CJ Prahova).

The refinery is located in the northern part of the city, and the predominant wind direction this morning was from the south.

In addition, some of the refinery's production facilities (Vacuum Distillation, Bitumen) have been temporarily shut down, and this morning there were no activities for unloading raw materials / transferring petroleum products.

In these conditions, we specify that the evolution of the hydrogen sulfide indicator was not generated by the current activity of the refinery, this aspect being confirmed by the control this morning of the National Environmental Guard - Prahova County Commissariat.

The two fixed air quality monitoring stations, located near the refinery, recorded a maximum level at 8.30 (half an hour average), which was 69.26 µg / m³ for the station located in Ploiesti, respectively 55.38 µg / m³ for the one from Tantareni.

Statie monitorizare Tantareni

Currently, the refinery no longer processes crude oil, but only medium distilled products from Petromidia Navodari. Vega Ploiesti is the smallest profile unit in the country, with an annual production capacity of approximately 400,000 tons and exclusively develops products with high added value.
