Rompetrol Rafinare announces the complete extinction of the fire on the Petromidia platform.
Rompetrol Rafinare announces the complete extinction of the fire on the Petromidia platform, following the prompt intervention of the military fire brigade teams, assisted by the firefighters on the industrial platform.
Through the measures adopted, the incident was neutralized and there is no other risk at this time. The Rompetrol anti-crisis cell continues to provide support to the authorities and partners, as well as to diminish the internal impact of this incident.
From the beginning of the incident, all employees were safely evacuated, establishing a route and a strict area, only for the access and intervention of the specialized teams. Also, the operational processes in the refinery were stopped, the ventilation systems were turned on, in order to eliminate any other source that could have led to the spread of the fire.
At the level of the refinery, a team of specialists has been established together with the relevant authorities to determine the cause of this incident. At the same time, an analysis of the impact on technological processes will be performed, for a clear picture and predictability in terms of restarting the refinery facilities.
The company will continue to provide fuels for Rompetrol stations in Romania and the Black Sea region.
The monitoring made by the environmental authorities revealed that the limit values were not exceeded, as the populated areas near the refinery (Năvodari town, Corbu commune and the tourist resorts in the neighboring area) were not affected.
At the time of the fire, there were 5 Rompetrol Rafinare employees in the area of the Diesel Hydrotreating Unit (HPM). Our company makes every effort to ensure that injured employees benefit from the best conditions for hospitalization and wound treatment.
Depending on the medical condition and the situation of colleagues, we also analyze the possibility of them being transported to specialized units abroad, with the support of the company and the authorities. At the same time, the human resources department is in direct contact with the families of those affected.
Rompetrol Rafinare offers its full support to the family of the colleague who, unfortunately, died as a result of the fire. Condolences to the family!
