Statement incident update 3
Following the incident on the Petromidia industrial platform, four colleagues were hospitalized.
Following yesterday's incident, on the Petromidia industrial platform, four colleagues (three from Rompetrol Rafinare, one, an employee of Rominserv), were hospitalized. They were hospitalized at the Constanţa County Emergency Hospital, and two of them were subsequently transferred to the “Floreasca” Emergency Clinical Hospital in Bucharest, after stabilization and specialized medical care.
Regarding the condition of colleagues hospitalized at the Constanţa County Emergency Hospital, we inform you that a person (53 years old, instrumentation and control worker) has already been discharged, with minor injuries.
The second colleague (27 years old, operator) underwent an operation in the hip area and is out of any danger. He is stable, conscious and kept under observation by doctors from Constanta in the post-operative department.
At this moment, the condition of the two colleagues transferred to Bucharest is stable, being in an induced coma, according to the medical procedures for specialized treatments and pain relief. We are supporting their families and medical staff to provide them with the best medical treatments.
The most seriously injured of these is the colleague (53 years old, operator) who was initially assessed with burns on 45% of the body surface. The re-evaluation carried out during the evening yesterday revealed that the burns are on 30% of the body surface.
The second colleague (58 years old, compressor in the refinery) is in the medical unit in the capital with injuries on 25-30% of the body surface.
The company is with the families of all colleagues and we offer support in these difficult times. At the same time, Rompetrol Rafinare provides support to the relevant authorities for a rapid assessment and investigation of the causes of yesterday's incident.
According to the monitoring carried out internally and by the environmental authorities, during yesterday there were no exceedances of the limit values for the environmental indicators, and the cloud of smoke generated by the incident moved to the sea. The populated areas near the refinery (Năvodari town, Corbu commune and the tourist resorts in the neighboring area) were not affected.
Technological processes are stopped, the incident area is secured and monitored, there are no risks to employees or the environment.
