Polypropylene plant (PP)

The plant was started up in 1988 with an initial capacity of 60 kta/year, under MITSUI CHEMICALS license.

In 2003, the plant was upgraded with automated pallet-packaging line provided by Mollers (Germany).

In 2005, the capacity of the plant was increased to 90kt/year. Currently, the PP plant is using the latest generation phthalates free catalysts for polypropylene production and starting from January 2016 all the polypropylene grades produced by S.C. Rompetrol Rafinare S.A. are phthalates free, in line with EU legislation.

The product portfolio includes grades of homopolymer intended for a wide range of applications (injection, yarn and fibers, raffia, thermoforming, BOPP, CPP), and with our trading business we cover for the demand of copolymers.
